Peter Vavra has been playing piano in the Vail Valley for 35 years. He grew up in Lakewood, New Jersey, and moved to Vail in 1983 to play at the “new” Westin Hotel in Vail. He played there in the lobby for 17 years.
His music covers a large variety of music including classical, pop and semi classical. His style is sophisticated and more classical than anything else. Peter plays with very strong attention to detail in every way with tight arrangements of all pieces in his repertoire.
For the past 30 years, Peter partners with Pat Hamilton to perform on Christmas Eve at the Beaver Creek Chapel. This tradition raises money for the Vail Valley Salvation Army.
Pianist Micky Poage arrived on the Vail entertainment scene in 1976, making this his home after graduating from The University of Colorado in Boulder. Before spending 35 years performing for guests at The Lodge at Vail, his career began in Colorado Springs at the age of 14, playing at a variety of venues including the reknowned Broadmoor Hotel. Micky’s unique musical style unites a multitude of musical genres, producing a sound with a distinct identity. He is, perhaps, best known for creative medleys of popular music as well as his signature composition, “The Last Run of the Day”, inspired by his passion for skiing. Micky’s wife, Karen, is a broker with Slifer, Smith and Frampton. They enjoy the shoulder seasons visiting their son, Parker, in Florida. This winter Micky has a full, 7 night local schedule, including Splendido Sunday’s, his newest spot!
